2011 WSBK Monza QP1 Result: Haslam Edges Biaggi

Leon Haslam sits on provisional pole for Sunday's World Superbike races at Monza, after the BMW Motorrad rider set a scorching lap of the iconic Italian circuit on Friday afternoon. Haslam just edged ahead of the favorite for the event, Alitalia Aprilia's Max Biaggi, Haslam and Biaggi the only two riders to get inside the 1'43 bracket. Yamaha's Eugene Laverty snagged 3rd spot, just ahead of BMW Italia's Ayrton Badovini, the Italian once again posting a very impressive time. Jonathan Rea took 5th spot on the Castrol Honda, two tenths quicker than Noriyuki Haga on the Pata S&G Aprilia. Championship leader Carlos Checa ended the day down in 14th, over a second slower than Haslam.
