Middletons Meet Queen Elizabeth

It wasn't quite Meet the Parents, but it had to have been stressesful for Kate Middleton's parents to meet the Queen of England for the first time, just nine days before the royal wedding.
Michael, 61, and Carole Middleton, 56, on Wednesday had lunch at Windsor Castle with Queen Elizabeth II (who turns 85 today) and her husband, Prince Philip, 89. While details on the meeting are scarce, it's been reported that the future in-laws spent about an hour in what was described as "a warm atmosphere."
Meanwhile, daughter Kate -- while not exactly old chums with the Queen -- has already met Prince William's grandmother a few times, the first in 2006 when all attended the prince's graduation from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
Meeting your future in-laws can be tricky under any circumstances, but especially when they turn out to be the sovereign head of an entire nation, what with all the curtsying-this and "Your Majesty"-that.
A friend recalls that the situation wasn't quite so fraught when her parents met her fiancé's parents for the first time, but still had an element of "Oh no!" to it. A day or so before the big meet-and-greet, Jennifer's father dove into a hot sausage and peppers sandwich, "and the cheese wound up literally burning off some of the skin on his chin," she remembers. "He looked like a leper."
Not waiting for her future husband's parents to run out of the door screaming once they got a look, "I wound up just calling it out 5 seconds after they met, because it was just so gross and obvious, it needed to be mentioned," she says. Must have been the right move, as she reports that his parents didn't jump up to object during the ceremony.
