Two months ago, Fun. promised that their upcoming video for "Some Nights" would be "amazing," then followed up that claim by teasing that the clip featured (and also xylophones).
And now, after all that talk, we are finally getting our first glimpse at the video (which premieres Monday, June 4, at 3:55 p.m. on MTV) — thanks to a teaser clip posted by the band's label, Fueled by Ramen — and it looks like Fun.'s claims were warranted.
In the 30-second clip, we see Fun. performing amidst a Civil War battlefield, as flares erupt in the distance and Union and Confederate soldiers take aim at one another (said xylophone does not make an appearance). Directed by Anthony Mandler — who's made a career out of helming eye-catching clips for the likes of Rihanna, Jay-Z, Drake and the Killers — the "Some Nights" video appears to be a worthy successor to the band's breakout "We Are Young" clip, which still stands as one of 2012's best.
Of course, that assessment is based solely on a single sneak peek — you can catch the full "Some Nights" video when it premieres Monday, June 4, at 3:55 p.m. on MTV. And, of course, it comes on the heels of Fun.'s performance at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which air live on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
Fun. will share the stage at the big show with previously announced performer Wiz Khalifa and new additions the Black Keys and DJ Martin Solveig.

Amazon Instant Video streaming is now live on the Xbox 360
If Amazon's video store is going to compete with the other online sources like Hulu and Netflix, getting on as many platforms as possible is key and it made a major expansion today by launching on the Xbox 360. The app launched on the PS3 back in April, and just like that version, this one includes access to Amazon's video on-demand and Prime all-you-can-eat subscription based streaming. Unique to the Xbox 360 app is support for the console's Kinect peripheral and its ability to recognize control by gesture or voice, plus a brand new feature for Amazon -- a queue. The Watchlist (for now only available on the Xbox 360, Kindle Fire and via the web) lets customers preselect programming they're interested in for easy access on the devices later, just like Netflix's implementation, however Amazon's VOD store means access to newer and higher profile content is just a click away. Louis Gaudinot considering losing his green mop of hair after UFC on Fox 3 win
Louis Gaudinot became known for his green hair while a castmember on "The Ultimate Fighter," but it got a bit out of hand on Saturday night at UFC on Fox 3. He won his bout over John Lineker by submission and the Fight of the Night bonus, but his long, thick, green hair became the focus of the bout. Dana White even joked that is was time for a cut.
Gaudinot told MMA Junkie Radio that he's thinking of cutting his hair, but he'll still keep it green.
"I was thinking about cutting it before the fight," Gaudinot said. "I'm kind of used to the long hair now, but I think I might have to cut it just for the next fight so it doesn't get in my face."
I can't understand why he would want to do that.
It's not like it got in his eyes.
Or made it easier for judges to tell when he got punched.
Yeah, on second thought, visiting a barbershop may not be such a bad idea, Louis.

Comcast releases Xfinity TV Player for Android
We've been waiting on this one for a while now, but thankfully Comcast has finally decided to release an Xfinity streaming app for the most popular mobile OS on the planet. With Xfinity TV Player for Android you can stream thousands of on-demand movies and television shows from Comcast, right to your Android phone or tablet. The only catch (you knew there would be one) is you have to be a Comcast customer and have to be paying the monthly subscription for the premium channels you want to stream content from. The biggest plus here is the tablet availability. Other on-demand streaming apps (hello HBOGo) are a little late with the tablet support, but Xfinity says it's compatible with any Android device running 2.3 or higher, and we've verified it works on the Transformer Prime and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. <P>You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off <a href="/music/artist/yeah_yeah_yeahs/artist.jhtml">Yeah Yeah Yeahs</a> singer Karen O's take on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s "Immigrant Song."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" id="vid:693384" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album.</P><P>The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a <a href="http://nin.com/?id=102677" target="_blank">post</a> Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker <a href="/news/articles/1655879/rooney-mara-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara)</a> and her muckraking journalist compatriot <a href="/news/articles/1667542/daniel-craig-rooney-mara-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig)</a>. "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus."</P><P>The album will be released on iTunes on December 9 in two versions. InstaCRT puts all other photo filter apps to shame (video)
To hell with Instagram. Seriously. It's not that we don't understand the appeal of the photo filter standard bearer, it's just that it lacks a cleverness and visceral quality that InstaCRT has in spades. See, rather than simply recreate retro effect with some software trickery, InstaCRT actually uses the aging titular tech to achieve its goals. The concept, while clever, is actually pretty simple: you take a photo on your iPhone using the InstaCRT app, it's then uploaded to the developer where all the magic happens. Your image is displayed on a tiny 1-inch CRT (harvested from an old-school VHS camcorder) in the company's office, a picture of your photo is then taken with a fancy DSLR, and the resulting image is sent back to you. The results are monochrome, loaded with scanlines and just slightly distorted -- offering a sense of physicality that other photo filter apps just can't match. However, as clever as the concept is, it's equally innefficient and, as more people start using the app, the wait between snapping a pic and getting the finished product back, gets longer and longer. (We had to wait almost four minutes for the image above.) Still, we can't help but fall in love with InstaCRT... at least until the next photo filter app hits the market. We already knew that Nokia had been running its fingers through Bing's map-like hair, marking it with its scent, now it's added a little lipstick to its collar. The latest addition to the Microsoft-mapping service now uses Nokia's live traffic and geocoding algorithms. This brings the functionality of Nokia's "Where" platform over to 24 nations (including the US, UK and Canada) of Bing users. Best of all for American maps that info also covers side streets. With Windows 8 milestone 3 now up for grabs for select Microsoft Connect partners, it's inevitable that leaked bits and pieces will start popping up around the Web. In fact, the first "official" wallpaper image from the still-brewing OS is already making the rounds.
As you can see, it's got a similar feel to the good ol' Windows 7 default background, but features a more subdued smattering of cerulean hues. Those of you who want to use the Windows 8 wallpaper on your current desktop can download it from our file dump.

After an eventful day, Nicole Scherzinger was spotted grabbing a bite to eat at the Nobu Restaurant in New York City, New York on Wednesday (May 23).
The former "X-Factor" judge glammed up for the "Men In Black 3" premiere in a bright red gown and wasn't afraid to be a little daring by showing off some side boob and trying out the 1950's Quiff hairstyle.
After the premiere Nicole tweeted, "Amazing night at the NYC MiB3 Premiere! Wow, so much fun and a great experience! Make sure to see it friday! #MiBheartsNYC", but she didn't leave the event without talking to E! News about the new "X-Factor" judges.
The Pussycat Doll was booted from the singing competition show by Simon Cowell after judging for one season, but she doesn't seem to be holding any grudges.
"I don't watch a lot of television," Nicole told the site "I'll try to watch it when I can though." adding, "I wish them the best of luck, I'm excited for them."
Auditions for the upcoming season are underway and Britney Spears seems pretty dedicated to the new gig tweeting yesterday, "So excited to be going to Austin this week for @TheXFactorUSA auditions! Will I see any of y'all there on Thurs or Fri?"

Sony Xperia P, U and Sola now available internationally
Sony unveiled the Xperia P and Xperia U at its MWC 2012 press conference, and wasted no time in announcing the Xperia Sola a few weeks later. And now all three devices have gone on sale in Europe and Asia, further fleshing out Sony's 2012 smartphone line-up. The Xperia Sola is arguably the most interesting of the three -- it features the manufacturer's new "floating touch" technology, which enables the device to detect when your finger is hovering over the screen, without any contact being made. Sony has highlighted a few uses for this tech -- for example, precisely selecting links on a webpage before tapping to confirm. But we're also eager to see what community devs are able to do with this tech in the months ahead. Next up there's the Xperia P, which is essentially a miniature Xperia S with an aluminum shell and slightly pared-back specs. Inside there's a 1GHz dual-core CPU (down from 1.5), a 4-inch qHD screen (down from 720p), and an 8MP rear camera (down from 12MP). And specs are further cut back in the entry-level Xperia U, which rocks a 3.5-inch FWVGA screen, 5MP camera and a matte plastic finish, though it's still running a dual-core 1GHz CPU. However, Sony's Achilles' Heel is Gingerbread -- all three devices use Android 2.3, though ICS updates are promised before the end of June. In the UK, the Sola will set you back around £250, while Xperias P and U will run you around £320 and £170 respectively. If you're after a network-subsidized deal, O2, Three, T-Mobile and Orange offer the Xperia U, while O2 has the Xperia P. No major network has yet announced the Xperia Sola. Zoho Docs 2.0 has landed in the App Store, and the most notable change is that it's now a universal app. Now you're able to take advantage of the app's mobile productivity powers on your larger iOS device. Retina display support has also been added, as have document sharing options -- which you can utilize in both the viewer and collaboration modes.
Just like the basic Zoho service, the app is available totally free of charge. To celebrate the imminent marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Royal Collection will release an Android an iOS app that chronicles the last seven royal marriages, including Queen Victoria's marriage to Prince Albert in 1840.
Ironically, the app won't actually feature anything to do with William and Kate's marriage -- rather, it will focus on the "tradition, splendor and romance" that are intrinsic to British royal marriages. "[The app] will share the stories of past royal weddings and offer a wealth of historical context for the ceremony on April 29."
Unfortunately, the app, which has been lumbered with the fantastically creative name of 'Royal App,' won't be available until April 18 -- just 11 days before Kate's big day. It won't be free, either: it'll cost the rather princely sum of £1.79, or three of your Tea Party-loving dollars. 3D printing gets more flexible with Nylon extrusion
3D printing with ABS and other plastics that have a low-melting point are old hat. And, with the price of entry dropping below the $500 mark, soon enough anyone will be able print their own pirated 45s. Instructables user [taulman] has has taken it upon himself to push the DIY polymer extruder scene in a new direction -- Nylon. The slick and bendable Nylon 6 melts at 320 degrees celsius, roughly 100 degrees higher than the more common and brittle ABS. The flexible nature of nylon has some obvious advantages, particularly when printing tubing or even an iPhone case. What's more, gears and bearings created from the synthetic don't need to be lubricated. But, this isn't the end game for [taulman]. The resourceful DIYer plans to keep working on his high-temperature system until he can build custom creations from Delrin and Polycarbonate. The obvious downside here, is that higher temperatures require more power and more rugged components that could drive up cost. But, we'd say it's a small price to pay for being able to print your own Otterbox. So it just goes to reason that once she's conquered that medium she would go on to create her own social networking site. <a href="www.littlemonsters.com" target="_blank">Little Monsters</a>, a site built around Gaga's fanbase, is in invite-only beta testing mode right now.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Finds Inspiration In Her Fans, And They Are Inspired By Her" id="vid:657588" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>According to <a href="http://mashable.com/2012/02/07/lady-gaga-social-network-little-monsters-launch/" target="_blank">Mashable</a>, an early look at the site shows some similarity to the popular Pinterest mobile app that allows users to drop pins on locations and things they like. It also uses elements of the Reddit site by allowing fans to rate cool content that they like.
Little Monsters will focus on fans sharing and creating photos and videos and allowing users to hype content that they are into. The site is the first one launched by Backplane, a tech startup co-founded by Gaga's manager, Troy Carter.</P><P>"Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga's community just so happens to be the community we're using to learn about proper functionality," CEO Matt Michelsen said about the company that will focus on building online communities. "We think we can really change the world."</P><P>Backplane is partially funded by Gaga and the company plans to launch Little Monsters out of beta at an undetermined time and spin off more sites this year. It hopes to leverage Gaga's massive online following to draw users to the new sites. To date, in addition to her massive Twitter base, Gaga has 330,000 followers on Google+, more than 50 million Facebook fans and more than <a href="/news/articles/1650720/lady-gaga-reaches-1-billion-youtube-views.jhtml">one billion views on YouTube</a>

Next international edition of ?The Ultimate Fighter? will pit the United Kingdom against Australia
After success in Brazil with an international spinoff of "The Ultimate Fighter," the UFC will head Down Under, with fighting prospects from the United Kingdom taking on UFC hopefuls from Australia. The new show, called "Smashes," will cast in London on June 12 and Sydney June 15.
According to UFC officials, it's playing off the natural rivalry between Aussies and Brits. To the press release:
"Australia and the UK have a fierce, long-standing rivalry, and where better to settle the score than in the UFC's Octagon," said Marshall Zelaznik, UFC's Managing Director of International Development. "The popularity of MMA has exploded in Australia and the UK, with gyms opening all over the respective countries. There is an athlete in one of those gyms who hasn't had the chance to show the world what he can do ? The Ultimate Fighter is going give to him that opportunity. We're going to discover the UFC's future stars, you can bet on it."
TUF, American style has already produced plenty of British and Australian UFC veterans. Michael Bisping won season three and then went on to coach a host of Brits on season nine. Ausses George Sotiropoulos and Kyle Noke also made their name on TUF.
There is no word on coaches yet, but American fans can look forward to plenty of subtitles on English-speakers. Most of Team UK from season nine had that honor. By sheer history alone, my money is on Australia. Remember, they are descended from the British convicts of yore.
