2012 IRTA Moto2 Jerez Test Day 2 Times - Luthi Still On Top, While Corti Leads Chasing Pack

Thomas Luthi continues to lead the Moto2 class at the IRTA test at Jerez, the Interwetten Paddock rider taking half a second off his best time from Monday to secure his spot at the top of the timesheets. Italtrans rider Claudio Corti leads Luthi's challengers, heading up a group of four riders separated by just over a tenth of a second. Marc Marquez once again confirmed his fitness, creeping up the timesheets into 3rd behind Corti and closing the gap to Luthi. Marc VDS Racing's Scott Redding set the 4th fastest time, just edging ahead of Pol Espargaro on the Pons HP Tuenti machine.
Conditions on day 2 were a little trickier than on the first day, the wind causing problems for a number of riders. Redding and Marquez both took a tumble at turn 10, but both walked away unhurt. Andrea Iannone also blamed the wind for the problems he's been having, last year's title challenger ending the day down in 22nd on Tuesday, nearly two seconds off the pace of Luthi. Riders once again took an early break, as they reached the daily mileage limits on their engines, meaning the track did not see much action in the late afternoon.
The teams return for the final day of testing on Wednesday, before packing up and shipping out for the season opener at Qatar on April 8th.
