Syrian Protesters Hit With Tear Gas, Witnesses Say

Eyewitnesses said thousands of protesters were marching peacefully toward Damascus when security forces tried to stop them by beating them and firing tear gas. A Human Rights Watch report said government agencies have detained and tortured hundreds of protesters since the uprising began.
