MMP Max Biaggi Teleconference Transcript: On Electronics, The Aprilia RSV4, And MotoGP vs WSBK
Moderator: Good morning, everybody. Thank you for joining us today. My name is John Gardner, and I am the Media Manager for Miller Motorsports Park. This will be our final teleconference of the year with riders from the Superbike World Championship. Today, we're happy to have the 2010 Superbike World Champion, Max Biaggi, with us. Max, as you know, won 10 races this year, riding the No. 3 Aprilia RSV4 1000F for Aprilia Alitalia Racing. He swept the weekends here at Miller Motorsports Park as well as at Misano, Monza and Portimao. He also had single victories at his favorite track, Brno, as well as at Magny-Cours.
So Max, welcome, again.
Max Biaggi: Yeah, well, hi. Thank you. Thank you. How are you?
Moderator: Good. And congratulations on your championship.

IMDb for Windows Phone 7 reviewed, very yellow indeed (video)
In the video review (after the break), I take a quick stroll through each of IMDb's main features. If you set your location, you can see the movie screening times at local cinemas. Like the IMDb website, the app's prime focus is on exploring the details of movies (and TV shows), and the app certainly doesn't disappoint in that regard; the app might actually be better than the website! You can watch trailers, browse cast photos, check out related news -- it's fast, easy and pretty.
In many ways the app mirrors the website. You can browse the top 250 films, the bottom 100, the winners of the Best Picture Academy Award, this week's top movies and TV shows... and so on. It's so good in fact that, from now on, I'll be using the app instead of the website.
The only flaw with IMDb for WP7 is that you can't book cinema tickets directly. As far as I'm aware, not even Flixster for WP7 -- IMDb's chief rival -- offers this functionality. Needless to say, the first movie app to offer such a feature will decimate the competition.
The video review is after the break.Continue reading IMDb for Windows Phone 7 reviewed, very yellow indeed (video)Filed under: Video, Windows MobileIMDb for Windows Phone 7 reviewed, very yellow indeed (video) originally appeared on Download Squad on Thu, 18 Nov 2010 12:00:00 EST. Internet Explorer 9 preview 7 available, takes SunSpider crown; Beta now downloaded 13 million times
Like its predecessors, this preview lacks any kind of useful UI -- but if you have the Beta installed, you can follow Lee's guide to hack the Beta UI onto the preview. The Beta, incidentally, has now been downloaded over 13 million times. We're not seeing significant use of IE9 amongst Download Squad readers, but with almost 4% of Ed Bott'z ZDNet readership using IE9, there's definitely some evidence of its growing popularity. With my sources indicating a January release of IE9, Microsoft really ought to release a second beta...
Anyway, in infinitely more exciting news, there's a bunch of cool new HTML5 demos on the Test Drive site to play around with! Shakespeare's Tag Cloud is very cute (and educational!) Galactic, on the other hand, is an excellent example of the 'Open Web' 3D games that we can expect to see next year. It also acts as a very good benchmark tool -- I may have to do another head-to-head browser shootout!
Update: I just tested IE9 on the 'real world' Kraken benchmark... and it beats Firefox!

Usher Shows Off Fancy Footwork At AMAs
Usher performs at the American Music Awards on Sunday
Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images/DCP
Usher's protégé, Justin Bieber, scored more hardware than the "OMG" singer on Sunday night (November 21) at the 2010 American Music Awards, but the veteran superstar was far from a step behind the teen sensation.
With his fleet footwork, Usher teamed up with dance-world superstars Swedish House Mafia to ignite the stage with a mash-up of his "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and their "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "One" that certainly qualified as one of the evening's high points. Decked out in black military garb and sporting a starter mohawk, Usher partied and pranced around onstage to his club-happy single.
"I feel like a zombie gone back to life," Usher sang. "Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up/ No control of my body/ Ain't I seen you before?/ I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes."
Usher and his gang of dancers showed off moves that would have tripped up teen stars. At one point, his backup dancers launched him into the air and Usher landed and jumped right into his next step.
A full explosion followed behind him and he carried the energy into the hook.
" 'Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again," he crooned. "Yeah, baby tonight/ The DJ got us falling in love again/ So dance, dance, like it's the last, last night of your life, life."
After picking up an award earlier in the evening, Usher acknowledged his veteran status. The 32-year-old thanked his supporters, plugged his OMG Tour with Trey Songz and shouted out longtime fans. "I been doing this 18 years," he said.
What did you think about Usher's performance? Tell us in the comments!

Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him
Chris Cornell
Photo: MTV News
Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.
Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.
"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."
Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert."
Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant.
According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' "
"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in."
In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there."
But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."
Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way.
"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.
"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."

UFC 122 sub of the night: Siver thrills German fans
for $60,000. He's also earned himself a step up in competition his next
time. Don't be surprised if Siver is a regular on the televised portion
of several cards in 2011. He's an action fighter, who can potentially
produce highlight reel finishes each time out. It might surprise some to hear that this was Siver's 10th fight in the UFC. He's been a hidden gem mostly fighting on the non-televised portion of the UFC's European cards in 2008 and 2009. With this win and the upset of UFC veteran Spencer Fisher back in June, he's now posted a big close to 2010.Winner, the runner-up in the lightweight class on Season 9 of "The Ultimate Fighter," is at a crossroads. His hand speed is awesome but he just hasn't been able to get on a roll and establish himself as a player at 155 pounds. After two straight losses, Winner is now just 2-3 with the promotion.

UFC 122 weigh-in: Return to Germany marks another chapter in bold international plans
we're going to be running more and more events that you might not see live on
U.S. television, or even close to live," Marshall Zelaznik told USA Today. The UFC's managing director of
international development added that the promotion is planning for up to eight shows around the world in 2011."I think that we can really see ourselves hitting our stride in the next five
years internationally, that we can see our percentages (of UFC's) overall
revenue increasing twofold," Zelaznik said. "If we effectively double what we're doing now
internationally over the next five years, it's going to be a massive number for
the company overall."The plan for the first quarter of next year calls for shows in Sydney, Abu
Dhabi and possibly Dublin. Further down the road, UFC officials expect an event
in Scandinavia and possibly Italy. UFC eventually could find itself running
parallel circuits around the world.Zelaznik (pictured on the far right) said UFC 122 is within 1,000 of a sellout of 9,400. UFC 122 weigh-in (Courtesy Bloody Elbow): Spike television Nate Marquardt (186) v. Yushin Okami

Beyonce Inspired By Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill For New Album
Beyoncé
Photo: MTV News
Recently Beyoncé revealed that she wants to make her "own genre of music" for her next album. So when MTV News caught up with the singer at the New York screening of her concert special, "I Am ... World Tour," we asked her to clarify what exactly it is that she's creating in the studio.
"Well, I wouldn't say I'm inventing a new genre," she said. "I'm mixing every type of genre that I love and I'm inspired by every type of genre."
Beyoncé went on to say that people should throw any preconceived notions about the follow-up to 2008's I Am ... Sasha Fierce out the window. "I'm not in a box," she said. "It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."
The singer says that quite a motley crew of musicians have inspired the album. "Definitely Fela Kuti, the Stylistics. How random, right?" she laughed. "So many people ... Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, of course, Michael Jackson's Off the Wall ... all of those things I'm kind of mixing together."
For the album, Beyoncé has been hitting the studio with many of her usual collaborators including Ne-Yo, Sean Garrett and Jim Jonsin. And her mom, Tina Knowles, has given the tracks she's heard so far her seal of approval, saying, "Of course [I heard it]. It's amazing. It's so amazing!"
Are you looking forward to new music from Beyoncé? Let us know in the comments!

Ke$ha Says Rihanna 'Meant Absolutely No Offense'
Ke$ha on the December 2010 issue of <i>Complex</i>

Pop-star rivalry has been around for years. Whether it was Britney vs. Christina or Mariah vs. Whitney, there's always been an underlying competition between your favorite female pop singers. But don't expect any animosity between today's stars, at least not from Ke$ha.
The wilding-out singer, who's the latest Complex cover girl, spoke with the magazine about her pop-star peers, including Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
"I actually think that's cool," the singer said of the female stars she's being compared to. "Out of that group of chicks, I'm the new bitch on the block, so I'm still getting used to being compared to some of the biggest pop stars in the world, but I don't take any offense to it.
That just means people know my records."
Earlier this year, Ke$ha teamed up with Rihanna for the Barbadian bombshell's girl-power trek, the Last Girl on Earth Tour. Despite the duo's pairing, the blogosphere went into a fury when Rihanna recently revealed that she "didn't want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry could do."
The party-loving pop star admitted that she hadn't even read the quote, suggesting that the media may have taken Rih's comments out of context.
"I'm so used to the media flipping my words around that I'm sure she meant absolutely no offense to me or Katy or Gaga," said the singer.
"Rihanna and me are totally cool, we were just on tour together, and I know that she and Katy are good friends. I don't take any offense because I'm sure it's bullsh-- anyway."
Based on the garbage-bag ensemble she wore to this year's MTV Video Music Awards, it seems that Ke$ha could care less about other people's opinions. "I was trying to look super-hot," she said. "I like to poke fun at when people make fun of me, because I don't take myself that seriously. People say I'm 'garbage chic,' so I thought I'd take it to the next level and make a garbage bag super f---ing chic — and I succeeded!"
As for now, the singer is focusing on her recently released Cannibal, a companion album to her debut, Animal.
Do you think there's competition between any of today's pop stars?
Share your thoughts below!
Open the floodgates! It's Mega-Release Week, with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and Lloyd Banks all dropping new albums. Stick with MTV News for everything you need to know about the brand-new music.

Mila Kunis "Looked Disgusting" After Losing 20 Pounds
To play a professional ballerina in Black Swan, Kunis had to mimic a real dancer's tiny physique. The already-skinny actress spent five months losing 20 pounds for the role. When she looked in the mirror, she said, she didn't recognize herself.
"I had no shape, no boobs, no a**. All you saw was bone," Kunis, 27, tells E!. "I was like, this looks gross."
While Kunis swears she looked "like Gollum from Lord of the Rings" in person, she was shocked to realize that her skinny figure looked fantastic on film.
"In real life, it looked disgusting. But in photographs and on film, it looked amazing," she admits. Seeing how normal her unhealthy figure looked onscreen, Kunis says she had a new understanding of "why this industry is so f***ed up."
At least Kunis had a legitimate reason for losing so much weight: Ballerinas are required to be a very specific body type, one that's unnatural for most women. (As a result, eating disorders are common in the world of professional ballet.) Her costar Natalie Portman also dropped a lot of weight; director Darren Aronofsky literally asked her to lose as much as she could without getting sick. That's a pretty serious request, and both actresses say that they made sure to stay as healthy as possible on their very restricted diets.Still, Kunis said, the people close to her got worried about her extreme new body.
"My mom freaked out," Kunis says. "Everybody started panicking. She was like, 'You have to promise this isn't going to affect you.'"
Just as she promised her mother, Mila went back up to her normal weight after the shoot was over. So how long did it take her gain back the pounds she spent five months losing? She tells E! that it all came back in five days.
So next time you find yourself comparing your body to some movie star, just remember what kind of crazy diet roller-coaster they have to go through!
Do you think Hollywood actresses are too skinny? Chime in below!

PeerBlock 1.1 arrives with some important updates
Among the key additions are a completely revamped installer (complete with a signed driver), an updated list manager for easier settings tweaks, and a list verification feature to prevent file corruption. The signed driver is an important addition, since it makes the installation process much easier for users of 64-bit Windows. PeerBlock has also switched from the PeerGuardian blocklists to iBlocklist.com, which the developers say are much faster and more reliable. There's also an option to display allowed connections -- though you should expect an additional hit on your CPU if you switch it on.

The Next Three Days
Short Story:
Russell Crowe stars in this drama, which follows a husband and wife as their life is flipped upside-down when the wife is accused of murder.
What They're Saying:
"The Next Three Days refuses to puff up its action with message-movie sermonizing." - Slant Magazine
"What was briskly diverting in the original has been rather laboriously overworked, and the film's attempt to draw out the moral stakes never addresses the material's basic, surface-level implausibility." - Variety

Screen Grabs: BlackBerry Eyed PlayBooks (video)
Whoulda thunk that the third time we'd see the BlackBerry PlayBook on video, it'd be in the hands of cube-headed dopplegangster Will.I.Shill? Not us, but we're terribly excited to see the 7-inch tablet show off its augmented reality chops in the Black Eyed Peas' latest music video. We're not really sure what alternate reality hijinks turned the musicians into 8-bit portraits nor pixelated their world, but the BEP sure look adorable as Xbox LIVE-friendly avatars. Watch it after the break, or skip to 2:12, 3:16 and 3:54 if you just want to get your tablet on.

Social browsing with Mozilla Labs F1 -- how RockMelt should've been
The F1 button, which works in Firefox 3.6 and 4.0, sits in the top right corner of your browser, next to the search bar. The first time you use it, you need to authorize any (or all) of the three services. After that, you simply hit the F1 button, select a sharing service, and hit share. In case you were wondering, hitting F1 on the keyboard doesn't work -- that still brings up the Firefox help pages, alas. There's a video of it in action after the break.
It's painfully simple and stunningly effective. Sharing services like AddToAny and ShareThis have been deprecated by a 35 kilobyte Firefox add-on. F1 is faster, more convenient and unfailingly secure -- and this is just the beginning! While it only supports Facebook, Twitter and Gmail for now, Mozilla Labs talks about an API that will allow social sites to hook into Firefox; in theory, F1 could support any and all sharing services, all from within the browser.
This is the beginning of the end for the 'Share' block that hunkers like a hairy, unkempt baboon beneath each and every blog post on the Web. It really makes you wonder what exactly RockMelt spent 10 million dollars and two years of development on. F1 was probably developed in less than a week by a couple of Mozilla Labs code foxes.Continue reading Social browsing with Mozilla Labs F1 -- how RockMelt should've beenSocial browsing with Mozilla Labs F1 -- how RockMelt should've been originally appeared on Download Squad on Wed, 10 Nov 2010 18:00:00 EST. 15+ free Windows apps to help you tackle Thanksgiving tech support
The holiday season has always been a time for gathering -- but in recent years, it's also been a time when family and friends come bearing gifts of computer troubles. Their computer friends -- people like the Download Squad team and you, our readers -- get asked to do everything from installing RAM upgrades to the annual computer tune-up. We're happy to oblige, of course, because there's a decent chance someone will pay us in beer or baked goods. Cash is welcome too, but never seems to be offered quite as readily.
To make your holiday tech duties a bit easier, I've put together a list of some of my favorite troubleshooting apps for Windows.
Where download links for the files aren't on the application's main page, I've included a link to the appropriate download page. I've provided a handful of FileHippo links as well -- they're an excellent mirror site and they don't surround download links in advertisements or "recommendations."
Malwarebytes (MBAM)
My favorite malware removal tool gets the first spot on the list because, well, it's the first app I turn to when cleaning up troublesome computers. The free version of "target="_blank">MBAM works miracles, and it's definitely worth recommending the paid version -- which does automatic updating and scheduled scans -- to friends who can't seem to keep out of trouble.
If you can't get the updater to grab current definitions on your system, download Malwarebytes definitions manually. The file I've linked won't be as current as what MBAM would download, but it's better than no update at all.
[FileHippo download]
SUPERAntiSpyware
Another great, free tool for cleaning up malicious software is SUPER. I find that its scans take longer to complete than MBAM and that SUPER tends to not find as many malicious files -- but it does find files MBAM doesn't. Think of running MBAM + SUPER as the "double tap" for malware. [download page] [portable download]
TDSSKiller
Lately I've been dealing with an awful lot of the same infection, and TDSSiller from Kaspersky seems to be the secret sauce for getting rid of it. It's designed to eradicate a specific (and nasty) rootkit family, and scans complete in a hurry -- so I've made it a permanent part of my malware checking routine.
PCDecrapifier
Once you've obliterated the malicious software on a computer, it's time to tackle the crapware. It's especially commonplace on new systems, where OEM PC manufacturers like to do us a favor by pre-installing trial versions of 30 apps we're never going to use. PCDecrapifier takes care of a lot of the heavy lifting here -- saving you the hassle of having to click through every uninstaller in add/remove programs.
[download page]
Revo Uninstaller
There are, of course, some apps which just don't want to leave without making a stink. Broken installers, missing .INI files, and botched registry entries can all make removal difficult. Revo is a great back-up tool in cases like these, and it's able to uproot even the most troublesome apps.
[download page] [portable download]
CCleaner
This trusty app recently updated to version 3.0, and it's better than ever. CCleaner is a fantastically simple way to remove loads of un-needed files from a system -- everything from Windows temp files to bits cached by Web browsers and Flash.
[download page] [portable download]
WinDirStat
If -- after running CCleaner -- you're looking for a way to free up even more space on a hard drive, give WinDirStat a go. It's a free app which will analyze the contents of a drive and show you which folders are hogging all those precious gigabytes.
[download page]
Easus Partition Master
I see a lot of laptops with a totally full C: and a totally empty D: -- many people don't know that the manufacturer has split their drive in two to help preserve their data in case they run a system recover or reformat and re-install Windows. When I encounter this scenario, I'll fire up Partition Master, combine both partitions, and whammo! They've got loads of free space on the only drive they had any idea was usable.
Note: partitioning tools can, of course, be extremely dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. You can wipe out loads of important data with a single key press if you're not paying attention -- so always exercise great care when using any tool like Easeus!
[download page]
TeamViewer
Not everyone who wants your help lives conveniently nearby. Some might not want to bring you your computer, and sometimes you just don't want to get out of your chair to go fix someone's busted homepage. TeamViewer lets you troubleshoot from the comfort of your home -- just have your friend run the host on their machine and provide you their ID and password, and you're in. It's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux -- so you can help out regardless of who's running which OS.
[download page] [portable download]
Dropbox
Another great way to help friends remotely is with Dropbox. Get them an account and add them to a group -- it makes for a pain-free way to deliver files like installers and manuals you wish they'd read to their system.
Secunia PSI
Sometimes people don't want to believe what you're telling them -- they need to see something "official." If you're having trouble getting someone to understand the importance of updating, let Secunia take a look at their system. The app looks for all kinds of vulnerabilities in both Windows and installed applications like Java, Adobe Reader, and iTunes.
Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast 5, Avira
Never walk away from a freshly-cleaned system without making sure it's got a good, up-to-date antivirus / anti-malware application installed. MSE, Avast 5, and Avira are all great options -- and they're all free for use on home computers.

MVPS.org Hosts File and Sunbelt ClearCloud Anti-malware DNS
Another great way to help ensure systems don't become repeat offenders is by blocking access to websites which are known to cause problems. The hosts file, of course, needs to be copied on to each machine you want to protect. Sunbelt's ClearCloud service can be configured either on a system or on a router -- which makes protecting a whole house full of computers a breeze.

Lady Gaga, Beyonce Among Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women
Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has notched another milestone on her road to global pop-culture domination. The 24-year-old singer was recently named one of Forbes magazine's World's 100 Most Powerful Women list alongside CEOs, heads of state and media phenoms like herself.
Gaga took the #7 slot on the list, which was unveiled Wednesday (October 6), behind women such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and first lady Michelle Obama, who was named the most powerful woman on the planet (and is the first African-American to top the list). Gaga was the second-most powerful entertainer in the rankings, coming in behind Oprah, who clocked in at #3.
Other powerful ladies include Gaga's "Telephone" collaborator Beyoncé (#9), talk-show host and former "American Idol" judge Ellen DeGeneres (#10), author and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (#16) and screen siren and activist Angelina Jolie (#21).
Gaga is no novice when it comes to Forbes shout-outs. In June, she debuted at #4 on the magazine's 2010 Celebrity Power List, due to her cash-magnet Monster Ball Tour, $62 million in earnings, Web popularity and deals with companies such as Polaroid and MAC. B was bumped two spots to #2 after raking in $86 million from her world tour, arsenal of endorsement deals and House of Deréon products. Oprah has been a Forbes mainstay, coming in at #1 this year on the Celebrity Power List after ceding the crown to Angelina Jolie the year before. The mogul snatched the top spot back with a nine-figure payday and media conglomerate that includes TV shows, magazines and more.
Perhaps Gaga will wield her hefty worldwide clout to push for her causes. A longtime gay-rights supporter, the entertainer has most recently waged a campaign for the repeal of the U.S. Armed Forces' polarizing "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
What do you think of Gaga making the Forbes list? Sound off in the comments!
