Jerez Weather Report: Wet Track, Dry Skies - For Now
The best forecast at the moment is that light showers may fall throughout any of the three races. It should be largely dry, but the track is going to be greasy. Ducati's prayers for rain have gone unanswered.

Bellator Adds Alexis Vila to Bantamweight Division
As it continues to carve out a niche for itself as the No. 2 promotion in mixed martial arts, Bellator has once again signed a fighter who's big on talent and capable of bringing a great deal of excitement into the cage in former Olympic wrestling bronze medalist Alexis Vila.
Before we get into all the reasons Vila is an exciting addition to Bellator's bantamweight tournament, let's get the two big problems out of the way ...
1. He's old: He turned 40 in March.
2. He's tiny: In the Olympics he wrestled at 105 pounds and most recently fought in MMA at 125 pounds. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

March 31 is World Backup Day 2011
On March 31, as part of the global data-saving initiative, you are encouraged to back up all of your cherished photos and videos, and important documents. If you've ever had a hard disk fail, and not had a backup to fall back on, you'll know that it's a bit like losing a sizable fragment of your soul. If you've never backed up your important files -- or if you only back up sporadically -- do it on World Backup Day!
It's not hard to back up your data, either. A 2TB drive costs only a fistful of dollars, and it takes just a few minutes to set SyncToy for Windows, or Time Machine for Mac, to mirror your data every night. If you prefer a cloud-based solution, there's always SugarSync and Dropbox. Finally, don't forget that Bundlelytic has a charity giveaway for three excellent data-backup-and-recovery tools -- $160 of software for only $25, and 100% of the proceeds to go the Japanese Red Cross.
For even more backup options, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, check our list of 13 great backup programs.March 31 is World Backup Day 2011 originally appeared on Download Squad on Mon, 28 Mar 2011 07:30:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Rampage Jackson Not Excited With Matt Hamill for UFC 130
"Thiago Silva is the type of guy I would love to fight because he has great stand up and he comes to fight most of the time, so I was looking forward to fighting a guy like that," Jackson said on The MMA Hour. "Matt Hamill wasn't on my radar at all. I wasn't excited at all. But then again, not a whole lot gets me excited."
Jackson's comments about not being excited for the fight stand in contrast to the comments of Hamill, who said he plans to break Jackson's will. But Jackson says that the difference between their public comments is simple: Hamill needs to convince himself that he can beat Jackson, while Jackson already knows that he can beat Hamill. Gus Johnson Signs With Fox but Stays With Showtime
Sources told MMAFighting.com that Johnson's contract with CBS was for basketball and football, and that his deal to call fights (both MMA and boxing) for Showtime was a separate contract. That contract is still in effect, and Johnson will call Saturday night's Andre Ward-Arthur Abraham boxing match for Showtime. Although Showtime hasn't yet announced who will broadcast its next MMA show (a June 18 Strikeforce card), Johnson is expected to call that event as well.
Theoretically, it's even possible that Johnson could be back on the CBS airwaves if CBS ever aired another Strikeforce fight: When Johnson called EliteXC and Strikeforce fights on CBS in the past, that was part of his Showtime deal. It's probably a long shot that we'd see Johnson back on CBS, however. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Sometimes Feeling 'Worthless'
By Jocelyn Vena

"The latest thing I do is I don't read a damn thing. No press, no television. If my mom calls and says, 'Did you hear about?' I don't want to know nothing about anything that is going on ... I shut it all off." </P><P> </P><P>Gaga's mother was on hand for parts of the interview, sharing that in Gaga's early days, her father thought she had a "screw loose" while she was performing at downtown New York nightclubs in her bra while lighting hairspray on fire. The superstar added that there's one thing about her current act that her mother isn't a big fan of. </P><P> </P><P>"She doesn't like when I swear," Gaga said, with her mother adding, "You're effective without it." </P><P> </P><P>Another part of the candid chat also focused on Gaga's youth, during which she said she was frequently bullied. "There really is no difference between the bully and the victim," she said. "I would like to do a psychological autopsy on as many bullies and victims as possible ... How do we understand what breeds hatred, what breeds anger?" </P><P>She added that despite all "all the praise you receive, something inside of you is scarred by those experiences. ... Sometimes I feel worthless." </P><P>Parts of the special were also filmed at Harvard University last month. </P><P> </P><P>The singer and the talk show host were on hand at the prestigious college to launch Gaga's <a href="/news/articles/1680176/lady-gaga-launches-born-this-way-foundation-harvard.jhtml"><i>Born This Way</i> Foundation</a>. </P><P> </P><P>"I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! ... Thank you from all of us — from my entire team, from my mother, from the bottom of the hearts of so many people who believe in what we're doing today," Gaga said at the launch. She explained that the foundation seeks to empower the youth of America, adding, "How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?"</p>

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year
By James Montgomery with MTV News staff
<P>"I'm bewildered," <a href="/music/artist/plant_robert/artist.jhtml">Robert Plant</a> said onstage as he accepted the <MTVNLINK type="news" id="1604580">Grammy Album of the Year award</MTVNLINK> with <a href="/music/artist/krauss_alison/artist.jhtml">Alison Krauss</a> on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday." </P><P> </P><P>He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because <i>Raising Sand,</i> which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys/">Grammy</a> album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.</p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:338316" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D338316" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history. </P><P> </P><P>Really, she's the key to <i>Sand</i>'s success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, <i>Sand</i> was released. </P><P> </P><P>And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain. </P><P> </P><P>And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on <i>Sand.</i> His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified. </P><P> </P><P>To date, <i>Sand</i> has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. </P><P> </P><P>One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album. </P><P> </P><P>"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" <i>New York Times</i> music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really <i>good</i> record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards." </P><P></p>

Beyonce Skypes With Winner Of Remix Contest

<P>As if the honor of being on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/news.jhtml">Beyoncé</a>'s <I>4: The Remix</I> EP wasn't enough, Polish producer Radzimir Debski (a.k.a. The "Party" singer assured him that it was. "This is definitely happening ... Thank you for staying awake, I wanted to congratulate you because you're the winner of the 'End of Time' remix competition," she said to Jimek's disbelief, as he took a seat on the floor to settle himself. Ke$ha Out For Vengeance In Musical March Madness
By James Montgomery
<P>Last year, based mainly on her attitude, the fact that she <a href="/news/articles/1644961/keha-tries-to-shock-the-world-at-casio-launch.jhtml">plays an AK-47 shaped guitar</a> and the presence of photos like <a href="http://resources2.news.com.au/images/2011/03/13/1226020/684522-ke-ha-drinks-blood.jpg" target="_blank">this</a>, Ke$ha was given an 11 seed in MTV's Musical March Madness tournament — and promptly <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/03/15/march-madness-u2-kesha-green-day-adam-lambert/">lost by a huge margin to U2</a> in the opening round. </P><P> </P><P><CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:747290/cp~vid%3D747290%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A747290" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER> </P><P> </P><P>Of course, she's spent the past 12 months fuming over that early exit, and now, she's going to get her shot at redemption. Eddie Yagin?s star rises; has Mark Hominick?s set?
ATLANTA ? Shortly after 10:30 Eastern on Saturday night at UFC 145, two careers crossed paths.
Mark Hominick, the onetime title contender who's fallen on hard times, squared off against the undistinguished, largely unknown Eddie Yagin. The result was the best fight of the night to that point, a featherweight bout that left both men bloodied and beaten.
Right from the start, Yagin made it clear that whatever Hominick's pedigree, Yagin wouldn't blanch. The so-called "Filipino Phenom" bored in on Hominick with lethal speed for seven uninterrupted minutes. Problem is, the fight went the full 15, and by the time it was done, both men were beaten beyond recognition
This was an upright fight; neither fighter even attempted a takedown. Yagin put Hominick on the mat with uppercuts followed by devastating overhand rights, combinations that raised an egg-sized swelling on Hominick's right cheek. And through the first half of the fight, it appeared that would be enough to do in the once-promising Canadian.
But Hominick didn't become a onetime championship challenger on reputation alone. And although he had a rough 2011, losing the championship bout in a decision and another fight in a seven-second knockout, he still had enough in the tank to turn Yagin's nose into a bloody mess.
As the second round closed and the third opened, Yagin's eyes widened, bringing to mind Mike Tyson's old line about everyone having a plan until they get punched in the face. And for a brief moment in the third round, it appeared that Hominick could right his listing career with a knockout of Yagin. But his punches weren't landing with enough force, his jabs weren't nearly quick enough, and Yagin, bloody face and all, stayed on his feet until the final horn.
After the fight, the Filipino Phenom was both gracious and elated. "Hominick is veteran and unbelievably badass," he said. "I was hoping I was going to get that fight with Mark, and the fight was exactly as I pictured it. I thank UFC for the opportunity. Because Hominick was favored, and a UFC veteran, and I'm a rookie UFC guy, I'm pretty happy about this win."
Hominick's future from here on out is uncertain. But Yagin's is as bright as the arena lights above him. Once he wipes the blood out of his eyes, he'll like what he sees.

VMware adds Mozy to its cloud and virtualization empire
VMware's official blog post makes it clear that the company wasn't so much interested in Mozy as a consumer offering. Rather, it's the inner workings of Mozy which piqued VMware's curiosity. CTO Steve Herrod says, "Over the past 5 years, Mozy has built one of the best examples of a globally distributed, large-scale cloud offering." He adds that the move will allow VMware to "further ramp our own cloud-related learning and accelerate new IP, scale, and capabilities" of its existing offerings.
Existing Mozy customers don't need to worry, of course. VMware has pledged to continue running Mozy's service without interruption.VMware adds Mozy to its cloud and virtualization empire originally appeared on Download Squad on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 11:00:00 EST. TripAdvisor app for Windows Phone 7 now available
Geolocation is supported, which allows TripAdvisor to quickly locate places nearby. But while that's a neat feature, it's also a bit of a downer -- because, really, it's about the only feature TripAdvisor for WP7 brings to the table that its mobile Web app doesn't already offer (its browser-based geolocation doesn't work with WP7 at the moment).
While it's nice to see Windows Phone 7 users getting some big-name apps, it'd be even nicer if we saw some packing a bit more swagger.
Still, TripAdvisor for WP7 might just be worth installing on your device if you're frequently on the go -- at least until a better browser arrives with the Mango update.

Opera 11.10 includes improved power saving features
The timing here is certainly interesting, what with Microsoft's recent report on how much power the top five Web browsers consume. In its findings, Opera 11 was fairly low in the standings. While we've not seen any new benchmarks yet, we're curious to know whether the Opera 11.10 RC offers any significant gains.
If you're running Opera 11.10 on a laptop, let us know if you're seeing an improvement in your battery life while browsing!Opera 11.10 includes improved power saving features originally appeared on Download Squad on Thu, 07 Apr 2011 09:00:00 EST. Justin Bieber Reveals Believe Release Date On 'The Voice'
By James Dinh
<P>If you tuned into Tuesday night's (April 17) episode of <a href="/news/articles/1683242/voice-maroon-5-wiz-khalifa.jhtml">"The Voice,"</a> then you caught a roller-coaster episode, with <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> teasing his "Boyfriend" video and announcing that his new album, <i>Believe,</i> will hit stores June 19 and two more competitors biting the dust. </P><P> </P><P>Rocking a simple jacket, jeans and gold pendent, a charismatic Bieber was welcomed to the "Voice" stage with overwhelming applause. "I'm really happy to be here, and I think you guys are going to really love the video," he told host Carson Daly of the "Boyfriend" sneak peek. </P><P> </P><P>In the clip, Bieber is seen whispering the slick tune to a girl as shots of an icy realm flash. With a guitar in hand, the singer strikes a pose before a gleaming white sphere. Beliebers will see the first live performance of the track when he hits the "Voice" stage during the season finale. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:760119/cp~vid%3D760119%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A760119" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>Bieber also took time to jokingly chat with judge Adam Levine about a "supergroup" the two were planning, telling Daly, "Basically, we were going to do this supergroup, but he released his single, I released my single," to which Adam replied, "I'm sorry I quit, man." </P><P> </P><P>Beyond the Biebs' announcement, the NBC series also had some unfortunate news to share, revealing the two contestants who were given the boot from the singing competition. </P><P> </P><P>Following the previous night's "instant eliminations," Daly explained that the highest vote-getters would advance to the semifinals, with the remaining set of duos battling it out for their judge's save. And it was nothing but a relief for Chris Mann (Team Christina) and Jermaine Paul (Team Blake) when they were revealed as the highest voted of the week. </P><P> </P><P>Shortly after the commercial break, Team Christina's Ashley De La Rosa and Lindsey Pavao went head-to-head, causing Miss Aguilera to shed some tears. While De La Rosa took on Lady Gaga's "Yoü and I," it was Pavao's magic that turned Mike Posner's "Please Don't Go" into a soothing slow jam and advanced her to the next round. Afterward, Erin Willett and RaeLynn were the remaining duo left to duke it out on Team Blake. RaeLynn tried to do her best with the Band Perry's "If I Die Young," but ultimately Blake favored Willett's energetic take on Ike and Tina Turner's "Proud Mary." </P><P> </P><P>If JB didn't make the females in the audience swoon enough, boy-band phenomenon the Wanted riled up the rest of the gals as they performed their <a href="/news/articles/1683240/the-wanted-chasing-the-sun-video-set.jhtml">new single "Chasing the Sun."</a> Unleashing a crew of dancers, the five-member act also shared the stage with Team Blake. Despite being barely audible while singing the hook, the trio at least looked excited to be performing during the high-energy number. </P><P> </P><P><big><b>Moving On</b></big><br> </P><P><b>Team Christina</b><br> </P><P><b>»</b> Chris Mann<br> </P><P><b>»</b> Lindsey Pavao </P><P> </P><P><b>Team Blake</b><br> </P><P><b>»</b> Jermaine Paul<br> </P><P><b>»</b> Erin Willett </P><P> </P><P><big><b>Going Home</b></big><br> </P><P><b>Team Christina</b><br> </P><P><b>»</b> Ashley De La Rosa </P><P> </P><P><b>Team Blake</b><br> </P><P><b>»</b> RaeLynn </P><P> </P><P><i>What did you think of Tuesday's eliminations? Tell us below!</i> </P><P> </P><P><center><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></center></p>
